Tonight, we had our first practice for 2015. It was great opportunity for the band to get together following the festive season to brainstorm some goals for the year ahead. 2015 marks the band’s 17th year of performing in South-East Queensland and second year competing in Grade 3 competitions.
Our calendar is already filling up fast and 2015 looks to be another fun and busy year. Many of our regular events like the UQ Market Day (where we will enlist as many new members as possible), St Patrick’s Day and ANZAC Day are already booked in. Shortly before Easter the local pipe band competition season will begin. We intend to compete at the Brisbane Boys’ College Competition, and then just a week later the band will be performing at the Maclean Highland Gathering (where the band first competed 15 years ago!). This year we’re eagerly anticipating returning to the Australian Celtic Festival in Glen Innes, in northern New South Wales where we are always very warmly received and enjoy performing to great crowds.
2015 certainly looks set to be another big and successful year filled with lots of exciting events. We always meet great people in our travels and wherever we perform so we can’t wait to kilt up and get to it!
